Last Sunday I had the privilege of sharing a message on faith and technology at my home church, Chatsworth Baptist Church in West Norwood, London. You can listen to the recorded audio of the sermon or enjoy reading my written summary of the message via my blog — doctorkanayo.com. • • • Technology is a tool and like any tool it can be used for good or for bad. A knife can be used for cooking, a hammer or axe for building, but both can be used for harm. The tool has no morals or values, it is the user that brings their morals and values to the use of that tool. This is the same with technology. The psychologist in me makes me understand another aspect of the use of technology as a tool. Anything that we use creates or exerts a degree of change in us, whether we realise it or not. For example, when you constantly use a pen or knife, after a while you may see an impression on your hands and fingers. Similarly, our use of technology creates impression marks on our minds which primes us for future activities, decisions, habits, expectations and relationships. So indeed, how we use technology is important but we must acknowledge that our use of technology changes us. Some of these changes are great particularly for advancing God’s kingdom, however they are not without drawbacks. 🇺🇸👣: Statue of Liberty & my toes • Statue of Liberty: Here’s a picture of me and the Statue of Liberty. Look really close. Can you see it? 😂😂 Well, it rained heavily today and it was super foggy so imma have to photoshop in a google image the Statue of Liberty 🤣 It was worth the effort sha, hopefully I’ll see it clearly when I come back to NYC. • My toes: I did a lot of walking this week. So much so that I won the Fitbit workweek challenge when I’m usually ‘bottom two’ among my Fitbit friends 😂 Anyways I couldn’t leave without getting a pedicure, New York style. 🇺🇸👣: Harlem (Spanish Harlem & East Harlem), Brooklyn Bridge, Freedom Tower (again) and Wafels & Dinges 🤤 • • Harlem isn’t necessarily a tourist area but it’s great to visit if you want to see New York beyond Manhattan Times Square. Key faves for me were the wall art around Harlem and the hair shops! I promise you it was hair shop heaven 😂 there may be better spots in New York but for me as a newbie it was just perfect. • Brooklyn Bridge was busy and is a tourist spot. It was really easy to get to from Times Square and is close to shopping avenues where I literally shopped till my arms were tired. NYC 🇺🇸✌🏾: Times Square • ‘New York City is London on drugs’ 😂 #QuoteMe I literally saw a van selling weed candles 😂😂😂 so there must be something in the air that literally makes this city so high in all aspects! • Times Square is obviously a must see ‘attraction’! The bright lights, shops, people and their wonderful ‘boldness’ are some of the few things that gives NYC its charm. • Sleep is pretty much a myth here. I’ve even fallen victim to gladly enjoying only having 3-4 hours sleep because the excitement of knowing that there’s always something to do wakes me up!
