Current Role, Qualifications & Experience
I am the Deputy Head of Sixth Form and Head of Psychology at a High School in London. I am an examiner for AQA. My first degree is in Psychology (BSc), I hold two teaching qualifications, PTTLS (Preparing to teach in the lifelong learning sector) and PGCE Post Compulsory gained at the world’s number one university for education, UCL’s Institute of Education. I am currently completing my Masters in Educational Assessment, part time. More information about my professional experience can be found here.
My philosophy on teaching is that students should drive their own learning. Lessons should be challenging, engaging and should draw on experiences of each student. Most of my lessons use discussion as a form of ‘stretch and challenge’, to foster intellectual rigour and depth. I pride myself on creating high quality resources for my students to aid their learning and revision, and have managed to subtly include social media platforms such as YouTube and Twitter to support learning. My mantra is grace and truth in all areas of teaching. I aim to model the type of individual that I would like my students to become and enjoy having the privilege of teaching future business owners, doctors, lawyers, mothers, fathers and so on.
