Hey beauties,
I wanted to share the devotional that my Pastor, Danni Lockwood at my church (Eternity Church) sent out to the ladies! It’s amazing how the Holy Spirit works, because it was based on Ruth, which many of us have just finished doing the Ruth challenge!
I believe, as women, we are a powerful force on the face of this Earth. If we were to rise up and be determined to overcome our own issues and insecurities we would demolish the schemes if the devil. When GOD looks at his girls he sees us as a powerful force, full of compassion, full of empathy for others; he sees us as a force to be reckoned with.
I love the story of Ruth:
Ruth 1:8-9
“Then Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, ‘Go back, each of you, to your mother’s home. May the Lord show you kindness, as you have shown kindness to your dead husbands and to me.
May the Lord grant that each of you will find rest in the home of another husband. ‘Then she kissed them goodbye and they wept aloud”
I love this! Naomi was thinking about her sister’s future over her own!! She would rather they, in their younger years, free themselves and keep all the prospects and opportunities available to them in order to have a fulfilled future, over herself and her own future! How selfless!
But Ruth was determined to do what was right!!
Ruth 1:16-19
“But Ruth replied, ‘Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.’ When Naomi realised that Ruth was determined to go with her, she stopped urging her. So the two women went on until they came to Bethlehem”
Doing what is right in the eyes of God will always cause his favour to turn towards you!!
Boaz offered Ruth the opportunity to come and work for him, not just because she was beautiful, but because of how she had chosen to look after Naomi!
Ruth 2: 10-12
“At this, she bowed down with her face to the ground. She asked him, ‘Why have I found such favour in your eyes that you notice me – a foreigner?’ Boaz replied, ‘I’ve been told all about what you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband – how you left your father and mother and your homeland and came to live with a people you did not know before. May the Lord repay you for what you have done. May you be richly rewarded by the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge.’ ”
Ruth then becomes a wife to Boaz and both Naomi and Ruth are cared for the rest of their lives!!!
The Lord richly rewards those who are loyal and do what is right in his sight!! It’s through this family line that eventually Jesus himself is born! Jesus came through people with good hearts!!
Ladies, rich reward awaits us when we do what is right in the eyes of God!! So what are we waiting for, let’s stop analysing how many phone calls or visits we have had from certain people this week or how many invites out we have had in comparison to others and let’s stop getting all insecure with who put a comment on your Facebook status and who didn’t!! It’s not playground stuff, we are grown women, beautiful daughters of the king, we are ‘sisterhood’, let’s start behaving honourably towards one another!
Much love, sisters!
