The Daily War Over Your Joy

Hello! I pray that you are well. It’s been a while, do forgive my quietness. You might be able to relate to the pressure of exam season. As I pass through this season, I’m praying for all of you in the same boat. Have a read of the short prayer on my blog concerning exams: ‘Loving you with prayer this exam season’.

There is a war..and you need to be on the winning side.

This war is over your joy!

So many things will come at you to take your focus away from God and steal your joy.

People will be people and do hurtful things. Life will be life and hurl tough situations at you.

You may feel misunderstood, ignored and unloved. You may feel down, to the point where you struggle to pray or worship God.

But in spite of your feelings you have to choose joy in all things. Joy is not a feeling, it is the evidence of God’s spirit working in you! (Galatians 5:22-24). Choose your focus.

Whatever you focus on, is what you will head towards. Whatever you focus on, consumes your thoughts and determines your behaviour.

Therefore, choose to focus on God in spite of what may be going on in your peripheral and regardless of how you feel!

After Job’s first trial (Job Chapter 1), the first thing He did in response to all the terrible things that happened to Him, was WORSHIP!

Job stood up and tore his robe in grief. Then he shaved his head and fell to the ground to worship. – Job 1:20

The enemy gets confused when we choose Joy. The enemy is baffled when we choose to worship in the battle. The enemy loses the war based on your CHOICE.
So instead of all the ‘die by fire’ or ‘God consume all my enemies’ radical prayers that we may hear. Why not worship? Your praise to God is the best weapon! Your praise to God ensures that you are on the winning side of this daily war over your joy.I encourage you, as I encourage myself. What will you choose?

Verses To Meditate On This Week

Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.

– James 1:2-4
