Last night, I prayed, worshiped, prayed some more, worshiped some more and got frustrated at not ‘feeling’ God.
I needed Him to remind me that He was right there with me. That He heard every word and sigh. That He met with me in worship as He promised to.
In my frustration, I said, ‘Abba, I just need to know that You are here’. And He did remind me. His response was epic, simply…
He is. Yaweh. Not created or imagined or a feeling. He is, was and will be.
I deeped the fact that I had reduced God’s presence to a human ‘feeling’. My mind was too accustomed to sensationalism rather than the REALITY that God IS and The knowledge of His word and promises.
I just wonder and woe over how many of us have gotten frustrated because we haven’t ‘felt’ God…and He’s just like ‘hello…I Am right there with You’.
Sometimes our feelings can be a subtle and dangerous tool in the hands of the enemy to frustrate us out of communing with God.
Let your feelings bow down to God’s word. Test them in light of His Word. Take captive EVERY thought that exalts itself above the knowledge of Christ (2 Cor 10:5). In other words, every thought that is not His! Those thoughts and ‘feelings’ must surrender to the TRUTH of His Word. You have the mind of Christ (1 Cor 2:16)!
You might have felt like this, so I want to remind and encourage you, using God’s word. HE IS WITH YOU!
Instead of looking to your feelings, look to the FINISHED work of Christ. Who tore the veil of sin which separated us from walking with God as He did with Adam. God is WITH you, because Christ made it possible. It all comes back to salvation.
As my uncle, Charles Spurgeon said, ‘You are justified by faith, not by feelings, you are saved by what Christ felt for you, not by what you feel…’
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. – Isaiah 43:2
Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land. For I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”- Genesis 28:15
Teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” – Matthew 28:20
Read Psalm 139 and know that God is with you. Believe His word and let your feelings catch up!
