When They Hurt The Ones You Love

Can I be real with you?

I get angry. Like, emotionally angry and recently it hasn’t been towards people that hurt me. My anger has been towards those that have hurt people dear to me.

I’ve subconsciously been dragging this hurt, evil thoughts, hatred, desire for revenge…and honestly, its made me feel numb.

joy inI know I’m probably not the only one, so I had to share this not for myself but for someone else. In our Bible study yesterday, my Mr (bless him for being patient with me in this season lol) challenged me to pray for those that I was angry with. And trust me, it was a challenge, I felt like my pride was being confronted, after all, I thought that I deserved to be angry, not knowing that I was enslaving myself to ill thoughts and bitterness.

Choosing to be angry over joyful, is like choosing to be sick over being healthy. Remaining angry enslaves, but joy in all things breaks chains!

So, if you are angry with anyone right now. I urge you to release them from your heart of anger and usher them into your heart of prayer.

Here’s a prayer that I prayed, I hope that it brings you a sense of peace, as it did for me:

Lord, help me to forgive people who have hurt me or my loved ones.
Heal my emotions that have been wounded and teach me how to love unconditionally.
Father, please forgive me for not being forgiving.
Forgive me for thinking evil thoughts, and seeking revenge against people who have offended me.
Forgive me for hatred and for not walking in love.
Forgive me for gossiping, lying and for rehearsing in my mind what was said or done to me.
Lord, remind me of those that I need to forgive and help me to forgive.

“Forgiveness is not an emotion. It is a decision. It is not about acting as if nothing happened. Its about accepting what has happened and choosing to pardon the offender… a hard choice that takes a conscious effort. “- Abimbola Dare

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. (21)
